This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite however in the area of application of the European Standard (EN) this stone must be nominated as syenite.
A coarse-grained, dark blue iridescent syenite (larvikite).
Syenite: Syenite is a coarse-grained intrusive igneous rock of the same general composition as granite but with the quartz either absent or present in relatively small amounts (<5%).
Local Geology: Lundhs Labrador Blue Pearl GT quarry with a good potential for further development.
Comment: The crystals of Blue Pearl GT are dark with a shimmering iridescence. GT is famous and sought after by the granite industry around the world. Capacity: 3500 – 5000 cubic metres per year.
